I have been a type 2 diabetic for over 6+ years now working as a graphic designer during the day and a Postcrossing illustrator on the weekends. I like to listen to songs with poetic meaning and am often lost visualizing them, hoping someday I can be an art director. In an alternate universe, I would like to be a polyglot who happens to be a kick-ass dancer.
Metformin
I’m a serial entrepreneur from Singapore. I didn’t grow up with diabetes. I got it from stress that lead to anxiety and after that a burnout. I didn’t hide it, it’s also part of my family history. It was hard for me. I live alone and I manage my business, finance and medical health expenses with the support of government subsidies.
Metformin is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. Metformin is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Metformin is sometimes used together with insulin or other medications, but it is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
We are sisters and type 1 Diabetics. Margaret was diagnosed at 11 years old and has had type 1 diabetes for 11 years. Anna was diagnosed at 21 years old and has had type 1 diabetes for 4 years. We grew up in South Carolina and are super fortunate to have both parents in the medical field who somewhat understood type 1 diabetes whenever Margaret was first diagnosed. Margaret had been a type 1 diabetic for 8 years whenever Anna was diagnosed so we were able to help each other and learn more together.
Currently I take 4 times a day Metformin pills. I don’t take any insulin and I never used any other form of medication. It alway have been some brand of Metformin. The dosage has changed with different doctors.
