As someone living with Type 1 diabetes, I write this to help others in our community understand what’s changing—and what it means for daily life.

A Quiet Detail With a Powerful Message

Fans of Nick Jonas have something big to celebrate: his first solo album in nearly five years is on the way. Titled Sunday Best, the project follows his 2021 release, Spaceman—and its cover art is already sparking meaningful conversation.

On the “Sunday Best” cover, Nick stands in a softly lit bathroom wearing a crisp white t-shirt, gazing into the mirror. The scene feels intimate and understated. Look closely, though, and you’ll notice a powerful detail: his continuous glucose monitor (CGM) is visible on his arm.

That small but intentional inclusion speaks volumes.

Why Visibility Matters for the Diabetes Community

For people living with type 1 diabetes, much of daily life happens behind the scenes—checking blood sugars, managing highs and lows, counting carbs, navigating insurance hurdles, and coping with the emotional weight that comes with it all. By allowing his CGM to be visible on something as high-profile as an album cover, Nick helps normalize these realities and challenges long-standing stigma.

Nick has lived with type 1 diabetes since 2005, when he was diagnosed at age 13. His brother recognized that Nick was losing weight rapidly and urged their parents to get him checked out—an instinct that likely saved his life. Since going public with his diagnosis in 2007, Nick has remained a consistent advocate for diabetes awareness and support, including his work as a co-founder of Beyond Type 1.

Moments like this remind us how important early recognition and screening can be. Knowing the warning signs—and acting quickly—can prevent dangerous complications like diabetic ketoacidosis and, in many cases, save lives.

“Sunday Best” arrived February 6, 2026 and is available to pre-save now. More than just new music, the album also delivers a quiet but powerful message: people with diabetes belong everywhere, exactly as they are.
